Huge potential for nautical tourism in Sri Lanka a major focus for upcoming international boat show

 

The huge potential for nautical tourism and pleasure boating in Sri Lanka will be on display at the Sixth Boat Show & Boating Festival at Galle harbour later this month.

It will focus on coastal attractions such as whale watching as well as inland lagoons, lakes and reservoirs.

BW Hotelier says that “the emerging tourism industry in Sri Lanka will require pleasure sail boats and boats for sea excursions for whale/dolphin watching, leisure fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, etc”.

It add that “past boat shows revealed that there are a large number of boating enthusiasts looking to own a boat and go leisure fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving and pleasure boating”.

“The full potential of the ocean is yet to be utilized and ideal waterfront lands for development of marinas and boat yards.

“If the marinas and boat parks are developed and managed in the country, the demand for pleasure and leisure boats will record a very healthy growth for the industry.”

Introducing millennials to watersports will also be a major focus, with events including wakeboarding, wind surfing, jet ski racing, catamaran, water skiing and dinghy racing.

Featured will be events run by sailing clubs, fishing demonstrations, floating restaurants and Sri Lanka cultural display associated to the sea.

The show will provide a single platform for all boat and ship building industries and let them display and promote their respective products and services to both local and international clients.
